I created FeederPDX because of the notable lack of up-to-date information on which restaurants in Portland, Oregon were open during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Who had dine-in?  Who was doing take out?  Who’s open on Monday (still working on this)?  While this database is far from complete, it’s a start.

I created it because I love restaurants.  Sharing food is one of the most basic elements of a functional society

The pandemic unemployed the service industry first.  The yo-yoing shut-downs, re-openings, and limits on capacity led to product loss and exacerbated staffing issues.  Restaurants became the arbiters and enforcers of safety.  Their employees were some of the hardest hit, both in terms of health and finances.
